Anukampa Dasakam is a sequence of ten verses composed by Sree Narayana Guru around the Central Concept of kindness, compassion, grace, love and consideration towards all living creatures. Anukampa or compassion is the basis of good life and is upheld by saints like Chattampi Swami, Narayana Guru and others as the central doctrine and commandment of al religions. The concerned verse is
‘Is he God in man’s form or –
The Law Incarnate in divine human guise –
Or the Sacred Son of the Supreme God –
Or Compassionate Nabi, pearl and gem in one’
The author based on his discussions with many scholars who have studied the works of Sree Narayana Guru, research and meditations opines that the ‘Arulavatharam’ (Compassion incarnate) mentioned by Guru in Anukampa Dasakam in Verse 7 as well as the reference in Verse 10 are predictions on Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba. He also sites similar predictions by other saints like Sree Aurobindo on the incarnation of Bhagavan. The author also points out that the prediction by Sree Aurobindo and the composing of these verses all occurred in the days just before the birth of Bhagavan. Even though many scholars may disagree with the views the book brings into our attention some interesting coincidences. It can tempt researchers to think further on the ‘who lived among us, who with the holy ashes cured the sick’.
